Coffs Harbour Beaches
Midway between the bustling cities of Sydney and Brisbane, the
unsuspecting tourist will find a jewel the locals discovered eons ago,
Coffs Harbour. With roughly 90km of golden sands, the Coffs Coastline
greets the Pacific Ocean creating every surfer’s paradise and the water
lovers dream!
Surfing Beaches at Coffs Harbour
An area renowned by surfers, the multiple beaches slightly north of
Coffs Harbour, such as Diggers, Campbells, Moonee, Emerald, Shelley and
Park beaches all make for great surfing. Although these areas are famous
for their surfing, do not discount them as great locations for family
outings. Most of these beaches offer upgraded amenities, playgrounds for
the children, picnic shelters, beach showers and boat ramps.
Park Beach for example, may be a premier surf beach, but it is also
one of the most popular beaches in the area. It is conveniently located
near camping facilities, cafés, restaurants, hotel and motel
accommodations, as well as local shopping. Strong rip currents may offer
little protection for swimming, especially at the mouth of Coffs Creek,
but for water sports and fishing, it is unsurpassed.
Jetty Beach
Incredible, crystal clear waters and semi-tropical climate, Coffs has
something to offer everyone. Of historical importance, the central hub
of Coffs Harbour is Jetty Beach. Located near the Marina, the famous
Coffs Harbour Jetty is a timber wharf that extends from the beach
creating a massive break-wall that provides calm swimming conditions.
Both sides of this picturesque landmark is popular for fishing,
swimming, long walks or just lounging about enjoying the scenery.
Snorkelling and scuba diving at Solitary Islands Marine Park
If snorkelling or scuba diving are more your style, a trip to the
Solitary Islands Marine Park must be included. Named for its five rocky
islands, the marine life remains nearly unmatched anywhere in Australia.
Bring your underwater camera and be prepared to be mesmerised with its
beauty and corral reefs.
Corindi Beach and Yarrawarra Aboriginal Arts Centre
Additional snorkelling can be enjoyed at Corindi Beach; however, one
of the most intriguing aspects of Corindi is that it is a rare, coastal
rainforest. Therefore, if you were to actually get bored snorkelling,
swimming, surfing, playing in any of the available rock-pools, or
exploring the boardwalk, you can always visit the Yarrawarra Aboriginal
Arts Centre, and learn the history of the country’s native peoples.
A vacation to New South Wales Australia and Coffs Harbour
specifically will be something you relive in your memories year after
year. Every type of accommodation imaginable is available. It matters
not if you are seeking campgrounds on the beach or five star resorts, if
you have a family of six or a romantic get-a-way for two, from those
with tight budgets to the most, discriminating of tastes, there is
something in Coffs Harbour for you.
One thing that can be guaranteed, neither a week nor a month is
enough time to experience everything there is in this magnificent area
of NSW Australia, and you will be back.
