Pet Porpoise Pool at Coffs Harbour

You cannot take a trip to Coffs Harbour without visiting up close and personal with Bella. Bella is the newest baby Dolphin born at the Pet Porpoise Pool in 2005. This lively little lovely is the first Dolphin born captive to survive in NSW since her Uncle Zippy was born more than seventeen years ago. Of course, her proud parents, stars in their own right, Calamity and Bucky ensure that every year on July 11th, they celebrate the birth of their baby girl in style!

You can visit her playground at the Pet Porpoise Pool, shake her “hands” and play with her friends the Seals. There are even special days each week, all year round, when you can swim with the dolphins and seals in their own special pools. What a treat for children and adults alike!

Award winning porpoise pet pool

The Award Winning Pet Pool was established at Coffs Harbour in 1970 and has been gaining popularity since the doors were first opened. Daily shows feature playful sea lions, with the smaller ones balancing balls, riding skateboards and doing fin-stands that amazing and entertain everyone! And of course, the showcase feature is Bella. Join her, her friends and family showing off their extraordinary talents, playing with each other and their visitors and occasionally giving a kiss or two away in the process.

Feed the penguins!

Feeding the penguins and multiple other animals that live at the park is sure to please children from 3 to 103. The interactive shows held daily are for those who want to do more than just watch the marine mammals in action.

Lunch or snack at the cafe

Once everyone has thoroughly exhausted himself or herself, take a walk over to the Creekside Café. Treat yourself to a magnificent lunch and see which ones of the wild residents decide to join you for lunch. You never know when a Cockatoo, Emu or Kangaroo may choose your table for their picnics.

All of the animals that are in residence at the Pool are there because for a variety of reasons, they can never be released into the wild. Therefore, the multiple park employees, vets and keepers make sure that they are well fed, taken care of and never in any danger. Any of the local wildlife that comes to visit you whether at the Pool or at the Creekside Café, are all tame and very friendly.

Plan on spending a good portion of the day, make sure you are comfortable and remember, the pools are open (even those that allow you to swim with the dolphins and sea lions) during all seasons. So it truly does not matter if you decide to go in the middle of summer or in the winter, the doors are open. Come on in, the water is wonderful here!
